It is the oldest garden in South Africa and was originally created to grow fresh produce for the area and to supply and replenish the ships passing the most southern tip of Africa. It later became a space to beautify too, with botanists bringing in a variety of trees, shrubs, flowers and herbs. The Company’s Garden is home to the oldest cultivated pear tree in South Africa (circa 1652), a rose garden designed and built in 1929, fish pond, a memorial garden commemorating South African soldiers, an aviary, a herb and succulent garden, numerous monuments and historic statues and various wild, feral and semi-domesticated species of birds and animals, including the African turtle dove, Egyptian goose and squirrels.

For security reasons, we always communicate the vehicle registration number to the guest. Upon arrival for pickup, the guide driver will turn on the vehicle’s hazard lights and stand next to the vehicle, waiting for the guest to approach. At that point, the driver will introduce themselves to confirm they are picking up the correct guest.
