Sydney parrots are amazing. Whilst our iconic kangaroos, koalas and wombats are iconic, there’s more to Australia than our amazing mammals. Did you know that one sixth of the word’s parrots call Australia home? 56 species of the 300 or so species of parrot are found in Australia, and only 5 of these are found elsewhere in the world. More than a dozen of these are found in Sydney and many are found throughout Sydney suburbs.
On this tour, we will search for Sydney parrots in at least 3 different locations around Sydney. During the day we may see many of our colourful parrots that include king parrots, cockatoos, lorikeets, corellas, rosellas and galahs. On some days we may only find a few of these species, on others we will find ten or so. Often, we may also see other birds including pelicans, ibis, brush turkeys, kookaburras and magpies.

We will stop for lunch at Olympic Park, where the 2000 Olympics were held. Here, we will meet some of the local ibis (also known as bin chickens because they raid garbage bins). We will also visit a wetlands area where we may see some Sydney water birds.
