What's included in Self-Guided Hiking in the Laguna de los Tres from Calafate

(Subject to Option Inclusions)

I travel the most magical mountain in Patagonia. Travel to El Chaltén from El Calafate to venture on this trek to Laguna de los Tres, at the foot of the famous Mount Fitz Roy. It is a challenging walk along the path of the Fitz Roy, of 20 kilometers total. The duration of the trek can vary according to the pace and physical condition of each person, but are usually estimated between 8 and 9 hours, including short breaks and stops to admire the landscape, which will amaze you throughout the tour.

The activity starts with the pick up by your hotel. Along the way, you start the route 40, surely you can see local fauna and if the weather accompanies, see the sunrise on the hills.

Once at your destination, we give you a talk about the trail, hand you canes and the map, and start the trekking. During the first section you will go through the forest until you reach Laguna Capri, the first technical stop. You will be surprised by the color of the water and the nature that surrounds this lagoon, plus the views of the Fitz Roy are unmissable.

Resuming the trail, we cross the Río Blanco Bridge until we reach Camping Poincenot, a wild camp in the middle of the native forest.

Through Poincenot, we arrive at the beginning of the climb to Laguna de los Tres. Due to the altimetry and terrain conditions, this last kilometer is the most difficult on the trail. During this climb, the views of the landscape are incredible, being able to appreciate Laguna Madre y Hija from the heights.

When it looks like you’re about to arrive, another 300-meter climb awaits, but once up, all the effort was worth it. You are surprised by the immense nature and color of the water. The feeling is impossible to describe in words.
