Itinerary

Ippokratous Square sits in the center of the medieval walled city of Rhodes. The ornated fountain in the center is the only remaining evidence of an important construction of the Knights Hospitaller in the 14th century.

Also known as the Marine Gate, it is a medieval gate constructed in 1478 to serve as the main entrance from the harbor into the city. Grand Master Pierre d'Aubusson ordered it to imitate the Gate to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon in France - which is 2 centuries older.

Freedom Gate

The Eleftherias (Freedom) Gate is the main connection between the medieval town and Mandraki Harbor. It was made after WWII by the Italians, which saw themselves as the liberators of Rhodes.
