We walk through the streets of this historic old town and arrive at the heart of the city. Around this area are key landmarks like the Presidential Palace, the main Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, and City Hall. Independence Square, also known as Plaza Grande, features a central monument honoring Quito's independence movement—a significant inspiration for other South American cities.

Fundacion Iglesia de la Compania

The Church of the Society of Jesus, or La Compañía, is one of Quito's most iconic architectural masterpieces. Famous for its stunning baroque style, the church is richly decorated with carvings, gold leaf covering nearly every surface, and elaborate altarpieces that showcase the skill of native people. The structure combines European influences with local motifs, making it a unique fusion of art and culture.
