The origin of the Real Alcázar dates back to the High Middle Ages, although some areas typical of Islamic art can still be seen. It was in the 14th century when King Pedro ordered the construction of a Mudejar-style palace attached to the Gothic palace of Alfonso X, which became the Royal House. Throughout the centuries, it has been the residence of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville and is currently reserved for the exclusive use of royalty, except for tourist visits.
