The Nasrid Palaces, jewel of the Alhambra of Granada, are a set of palaces that combine art, history and symbolism. Built by the Nasrid dynasty between the 13th and 14th centuries, they stand out for their exquisite decoration in stuccoes, tiles and mocharabics, with poetic and geometric inscriptions that evoke the Islamic paradise. Its courtyards, like the Lions and Comares, reflect the harmony between water, light and architecture, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. This set is a masterpiece of Andalusian art, where every corner tells a story of splendor and refinement
The Palace of Charles V, located in the Alhambra of Granada, is an imposing work of the Spanish Renaissance. Ordered built by Emperor Charles V in the 16th century, it breaks with the Islamic aesthetics of the enclosure with its monumental design and innovative circular plan within a square. Its carved stone facade and large central courtyard with columns evoke the classical grandeur of Rome. Although never inhabited by the Emperor, his presence symbolizes imperial power and the transition between two architectural worlds: Nasrid splendour and Renaissance solemnity.
The Alcazaba is the oldest fortress in the Alhambra and its defensive heart. Built in the 11th century and reinforced by the Nasrids in the 13th, it dominates Granada from its strategic position. With its imposing towers, such as the Vela, and its thick walls, it protected the Palatine city and served as a refuge in times of war. His remains still show the old distribution of military housing and the spirit of an impregnable fortress. From its battlements, the views of the city and Sierra Nevada recall its function as a sentry of the Nasrid kingdom.
