Phnom Kulen is considered a holy mountain in Cambodia, of special religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists who come to the mountain in pilgrimage. It also has a major symbolic importance for Cambodians as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire, for it was at Phnom Kulen that King Jayavarma II proclaimed independence from Java in 804 CE. Jayavarman II initiated the cult of the king, a linga cult, in what is dated as 804 CE and declaring his independence from Java. Pick up you at your hotel and transfer to Kulen mountain which is not just home to temples but also various ancient relics such as sculptures on the stone walls of the mountain and statues, including the Linga of Siva God. These unique features demonstrate the creativity and religious beliefs of the Khmer ancestors and are an essential part of Cambodia's cultural heritage. We will start exploring the thousand of Shavalinga and then, go to visit Waterfall. This is a big waterfall in Siem Reap. It is a great relax after trekking for 3 hours. Swimming is accessible.
Then, go to Reclining Buddha Statue, the attractive and holly thing on Kulen mountain is an 8 meter tall statue of the reclining Buddha reaching nirvana. The statue is carved into a huge sandstone boulder. It becomes the popular place for worship.
