The San Felipe de Barajas Castle is a fortification located in the city of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia. Its real name is Fort San Felipe de Barajas. It is located on a hill called San Lázaro and was built in 1657 during the Spanish colonial era.
It is the highest point in the city and from its top you have a perfect panoramic view of the entire city, the Caribbean Sea and the island of Tierrabomba. The Popa Convent is one of the most popular tourist visits in Cartagena de Indias. The convent has a very nice cloister and an image of the Virgin and other interesting things. However, the real attraction is its spectacular views. From the top of the hill, almost 150 meters high, you can enjoy truly spectacular panoramic views. You can see the Walled City, the Castillo de San Felipe, the skyscrapers of Bocagrande, the poor neighborhoods, and the bays that make up the coast of Cartagena.
It is one of the emblems of the city, it is a sculpture that has a life of its own because it reflects the love that is felt for it, for that humble but proud origin and that represents a complete sense of belonging.
