Explore Mitai's rich history and Maori culture as warriors paddle ancient canoes down the Wai-o-Whiro stream. Songs, dances, and stories unveil the area's heritage and ancient way of life, deepening your understanding of the Maori people. Join us for a Maori fusion extravaganza, featuring a forest walk to witness illuminated glow worms and a fortified village (pā) by the stream.
Savor a hāngī feast, prepared in an earth oven dug 1-2m deep, with meat, chicken, kumara, and more. The kai is placed on hot stones, covered, and slow-cooked for 3–4 hours, infusing it with earthy flavors. Come experience the flavors of the Great Ocean of Kiwa on this unforgettable journey.
By car: If you are driving to the Mitai Maori Village, please arrive 20 minutes prior to the start time of the show
