Koutoubia Mosque
Your journey begins with an exterior visit to the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the largest in Marrakech and a masterpiece of Almohad architecture. Though non-Muslims may not enter, the mosque’s striking minaret—visible from nearly anywhere in the city—offers a powerful introduction to Marrakech’s spiritual and architectural heritage.
Next, we stroll through the Kasbah, a former royal district steeped in history. As we wander its narrow lanes, you’ll get a feel for the neighborhood’s everyday rhythm before pausing at Bab Agnaou. This monumental 12th-century gateway, admired from the outside, is renowned for its ornate stonework and served as the ceremonial entrance to the royal complex.
Saadian Tombs
We then visit the Saadian Tombs, a hidden treasure rediscovered in 1917. This exquisite burial site of the Saadian dynasty is adorned with intricate zellij tilework, Italian marble, and carved cedar—testaments to the grandeur of Morocco’s golden age.
