Medersa Ben Youssef
From here, you continue to the Ben Youssef Medersa, an esteemed medieval Islamic school celebrated for its architectural brilliance. Originally established by Sultan Abou el Hassan in the 14th century, it underwent reconstruction in the 1560s by the Saadians and accommodated approximately 800 students who committed the Koran to memory. Regarded as among Marrakesh's and Morocco's finest edifices, the Medersa displays quintessential Moroccan architectural elements, such as detailed zellij tiling, ornate stucco plasterwork, and intricately carved cedarwood.
