Sailors, fishermen and sea merchants, often away from home, were the pioneers of this musical genre, an emotion of longing or homesickness for their distant loved ones. We want to take you on a walking tour through the historical neighborhoods of Lisbon where fado has its roots so you understand the traditional lifestyle of the city and to feel the vibe of the city. Walking through the most emblematic places for Fado and for “fadistas” , where this music genre became famous, first as the sole of Lisbon but today a whole Portuguese identity. We start at Bairro Alto, where Fado became famous among the high classes, heading next to Mouraria where, according to the traditions, the first famous fado singer was born: Severa. Next is Alfama where Fado can be heard in every corner and where you will have a delicious Portuguese meal and a live fado show. Silence fado will be sung.
Walking Tour, Dinner and Fado: You will see the most traditional Fado areas. Along the way your guide will give explanations about this musical genre.
