Votivkirche

The *Votivkirche* is a neo-Gothic style church. It was built as a thanks to God for saving Emperor Franz Joseph from an assassination attempt in 1853. The church was designed by Heinrich von Ferstel and was completed in 1879. The church is approximately 85 meters (279 feet) long, 55 meters (180 feet) wide and 99 meters (325 feet) tall.

Molker Bastei

*Mölker Bastei* was a bastion of the former Vienna city fortification that existed from 1531 to 1871. Today, it is a street in the 1st district of Vienna, named after the former bastion. The Mölker Bastei was built between 1870 and 1871. The street is home to several interesting buildings, including the Pasqualati House, which was built in the neoclassical style and named after its former owner.

Burgtheater

The Burgtheater is the national theater of Austria. It is one of the most important theaters in the world and the most important German-language theater. The theater was opened in 1741 and has become known as "die Burg" by the Viennese population. The theater company has created a traditional style and speech typical of Burgtheater performances. The theater is located at Universitätsring.

  • We will meet at the "Votiv church". The best way to get there is by tram D, 1 or 71, tram station "Schottentor". The Votiv church is located at the Roosevelt square, directly at the Ringstrasse. Guide will hold a green sign.

End Points

  • The tour ends at the 'Museumsquartier'. From here you can easily find places where you can eat lunch, grab a drink, or just continue your city walk at your own. A long and popular shopping street is in a short walking distance, or just get back to the city center.
