The Historical Treme Walking tour introduces the African American experience in New Orleans, our guests will witness the Free People of Color that lived and thrived in the neighborhood, in addition to the Italians that also lived in this historical neighborhood. The culture, traditions, history, and heritage displayed in the neighborhood are uniquely different than any other place in America.
We will visit one of Treme's cultural museums and witness the New Orleans Black Mardi traditions. The travelers will learn about the heritage and the stories of the Black Mardi Gras Indians. This activity is an option and the ticket price is separate from the tour price. Price of the museum is $25.00 price may vary for Senior Citizens.
The travelers will visit the sacred grounds of Congo Square where the indigenous, enslaved, and free people of color would gather on a Sunday to participate in the market. The market consisted of drumming, dancing, singing, selling goods, and more... Join us and hear the stories of the spirits that protected these sacred grounds.
The travelers will stroll through the Creole and Scillian neighborhoods. They will view the Creole cottages and Creole townhouses, and witness the oldest Creole Mansion still standing in the City of New Orleans located in the Treme neighborhood.
