The pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, where the oracle of Apollo spoke, was the site of the omphalos, the 'navel of the world'. Blending harmoniously with the superb landscape and charged with sacred meaning, Delphi in the 6th century B.C. was indeed the religious center and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world.
The Battlefield of Thermopylae is a site of great historical significance, located in central Greece. It is where the famous Battle of Thermopylae took place in 480 BC, in which a small force of Greek soldiers held off a much larger Persian army for three days. The battlefield is now a popular tourist destination and offers a chance to explore the ruins of the ancient battle and learn about the heroic efforts of the Greek soldiers.
Serene, spiritual, magical, mystical, extraordinary, breathtaking, immense, inspiring, impressive. These are only some of the words people very often use in an effort to describe the Meteora phenomenon, an awe-insipring site that words cannot actually fully describe. Immerse yourself in nature’s grandeur, history, and architecture, and connect with your spiritual side. The vertical cliffs of Meteora, rising up to 400m above Kalambaka, offer absolute isolation, inner peace, and harmony. The historical monasteries located at the top of the cliffs, are a true wonder of the world and a testament to human determination and devotion.
