Huayna Potosí 2-Day Ascent: An Unforgettable Andean Adventure This two-day expedition to Huayna Potosí (6094 m.a.s.l.) is perfect for acclimatized adventurers looking for a true Andean mountaineering experience. The journey begins with a drive from La Paz to the Zongo platform, followed by a hike from Base Camp (4780 m) to High Camp (5270 m) along a scenic moraine ridge overlooking the Zongo Valley. After about 2.5 hours, we reach the high-altitude refuge to rest and prepare.
On Day 2, the summit attempt begins at 3:00 a.m. to take advantage of firmer snow conditions. The route includes two steep sections: the “Pala Chica” (30 meters at 50°) and the “Pala Grande” (45° incline), which leads to the summit. After about 5 hours of climbing, we’ll enjoy a breathtaking sunrise and views of Illimani, La Paz, Lake Titicaca, and the Yungas. We descend via the same route, return to base camp, and then head back to La Paz around 3:00 p.m.
