The Cerro Blanco Protective Forest (BPCB) is one of the largest and best preserved reserves of tropi-cal dry forests in Ecuador. It is located in the western part of the country, in the coastal region, southeast of the Chongón-Colonche mountain range, in the province of Guayas, with an approxi-mate area of 6078 hectares, more than 350 species of birds according to the Ebird platform. In this protective forest is the subspecies of the great green macaw, the Guayaquil parrot (Ara ambiguus guayaquilensis), which is classified as a critically endangered species according to the IUCN.
