— What You Can Expect —
Start your morning walk at the Ubud Rice Terrace, a great place to see birds like white-plumed herons and Java pond herons. You will see many kinds of birds and maybe even some rare ones.
After that, the group will go to the Begawan Foundation, which is known for their Bali Starling Conservation program that was set up in 1999 to protect local starlings from the very real risk of extinction.
Bali bird watching is not complete without a visit to the Pura Goa Lawah temple, also known Bali Bat Cave Temple. The shire is built around a cave inhabited by thousands of bats and, according to local legend, a giant snake king. The cave is believed to have been carved by an Indonesian saint around the year 1007. The old temples built around the entrance to the cave are still cared for and prayed to every day.
