Acropolis

The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens. It is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, symbolizing the cultural and architectural achievements of ancient Greece. The Acropolis is home to several iconic structures, most notably the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patroness. Other important buildings include the Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Propylaea, the grand entrance to the complex. Constructed primarily during the 5th century BCE under the leadership of Pericles, the Acropolis showcases the advancements in art, architecture, and democracy that characterized the Golden Age of Athens. It remains a powerful symbol of classical spirit and civilization, attracting millions of visitors each year.

Tempio Di Zeus Olimpio

The Temple of Zeus, also known as the Temple of Olympian Zeus, in Athens, is a grand structure that was one of the largest temples in the ancient world. Construction began in the 6th century BCE under the rule of the Athenian tyrants, but it was not completed until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century CE. The temple was dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods. It originally featured 104 colossal columns, each 17 meters high, of which only 15 remain standing today. The temple's vast scale and architectural splendor reflected the immense power and reverence associated with Zeus in Greek religion. Its ruins are located southeast of the Acropolis, and it remains a significant historical and cultural landmark in Athens.

Panathenaic Stadium

The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, is a historic stadium in Athens, Greece. Originally built in 330 BCE, it was later rebuilt in marble by the Roman senator Herodes Atticus in 144 CE. The stadium was designed to host the Panathenaic Games, a major athletic festival in ancient Greece held in honor of the goddess Athena. It has a distinctive horseshoe shape and is renowned for being the only stadium in the world made entirely of marble. The Panathenaic Stadium was extensively refurbished in the 19th century for the revival of the Olympic Games in 1896, where it hosted the first modern Olympic Games.
