Itinerary

Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon)

Photo stop Kaminarimon, or “Thunder Gate,” is the grand entrance to Senso-ji Temple and one of Tokyo’s most iconic landmarks. The gate is famous for its massive red lantern with the characters for “Kaminarimon,” and statues of the gods of wind and thunder stand on either side to protect the temple. It’s a must-stop photo spot for every visitor to Asakusa.

Enjoy 30 minutes of free time at Nakamise Shopping Street, one of Tokyo’s oldest and most vibrant traditional markets. During this time, you can explore the lively atmosphere, taste popular local snacks such as ningyo-yaki (doll-shaped cakes), kaminari-okoshi (crispy rice treats), or matcha soft serve, and browse a variety of souvenir shops offering folding fans, chopsticks, yukata, and other uniquely Japanese gifts. It’s also a great chance to take photos of the colorful storefronts and old-town scenery, or to pick up a lucky charm (omamori) from the nearby temple stalls. This short break offers the perfect mix of food, culture, and local shopping in the heart of historic Asakusa.

Experience the art of traditional Japanese tea ceremony in an authentic and unforgettable setting. In this hands-on experience, you will learn about the history and etiquette of tea ceremony, and have the opportunity to prepare your own bowl of matcha using high-quality Uji green tea. You'll also enjoy a seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweet), carefully selected by the tea master especially for the day. The ceremony takes place in a historic building officially designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Surrounded by timeless architecture and serene atmosphere, you'll be immersed in the spirit of Japanese tradition. Photography is welcome, so be sure to capture these special moments as a lasting memory of your journey into the heart of Japanese culture.
