Altun Ha, Cave Tubing & Baboon Sanctuary This combo tour will depart from Caye Caulker by sea on San Pedro Belize Express water ferry or by air on Maya Island Air; the choice is yours. Our guides will meet you upon mainland arrival in Belize City before heading off to Altun Ha.The temples are easily climbed and are not as tall as Lamanai and Xunantunich. and are not as tall as Lamanai and Xunantunich. Once at the cave tubing outpost, you’ll be given a basic orientation and safety briefing before heading off on a 30-minute hike which includes wading through a few knee-deep water streams.. If there’s time, and you’re open to added adventure, our guides may stop at the mini waterfall and swimming area. Next Your guide will show you the monkeys up close as they scamper across rope suspensions bridges throughout the village. You won’t miss the howl of this small monkey that sounds like it’s coming from a much bigger animal.

Altun Ha is the nearest excavated Maya Temple to Belize City and is probably the most visited by belizean school children from all over the country. This beautiful Maya Temple whose name means “Rockstone Water” has wide-open spaces.
Once at the entrance of the cave system, it’s time for your cave tubing adventure through the ancient Maya underworld. Inside, you’ll see intricate crystalline formations that line the cave with a majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene richness and grandiose of Xibalba as it’s known.
Founded in 1985 the aim of the sanctuary was to show farmers in the area that protecting the habitat of the Black Howler Monkey could bring sustainability to the village. Your guide will show you the monkeys up close as they scamper across rope suspensions bridges throughout the village.
