It takes about 40 minutes from downtown Beijing to the UNESCO World Heritage Site-Summer Palace, located about 12 miles northwest of Beijing downtown. It is the largest imperial Garden in existence in China, covers an area of 716 acres( three quareters of which is covered by a lake). You will visit the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity,Kunming Lake,Hall of Happiness and Longevity, Long Corridor, etc.
After finish Summer Palace visiting, you can have an experience of taking Beijing subway or public bus (ticket included) to the Old Summer Palace, used to be the most splendid royal garden, reputed as being the "Garden of Gardens".Constructed in 1709 of Qing Dynasty. However, it was burnt down by the Anglo-French Allied Forces in 1860. Accompanied by your friendly guide, you will walk around this splendid garden and listen the history. Complete your tour in this garden. You can spend more time to explore the area on your own or your guide can help you to get a taxi to your next destination(at your own cost). You also can have a lunch or dinner in Hua's Restaurant for an authentic imperial cuisine (on your own cost). Your tour guide will give you suggestions on what to order, your tour will finish at the restaurant then.
