Our guide will meet you outside O.Connells pub, this will be the first pub we visit. Located on famous Eyre Square in the centre of Galway city. The plot of land that became Eyre Square was officially presented to the city in 1710 by Mayor Edward Eyre, from whom it took its name. In 1801, General Meyrick erected a stone wall around the square, which was later known as Meyrick Square
We start our Whiskey tasting tour at this famous Irish pub on Eyre Square for our first tasting of Irish Whiskey
We will walk down bustling Shop Street visiting pubs for the rest of the tour to sample great Irish Whiskeys. Shop Street, is the main shopping street of Galway City.. There are brightly coloured storefronts, pubs and well preserved brick buildings. Lynch's famous 16th century Castle is on Shop Street. The street is crowded with shoppers, dancers, musicians, tourists and performers. The area has a bohemian atmosphere. There are old family retailers, chain stores, places to get one's face painted, human statues are not hard to find.
