This is the myth of Aristula and Melisso. The day Melisso washed his sheep on the coast, Leucasia noticed him and began to sing, but the shepherd's love for the young Aristula prevented him from falling under the siren's spell. Leucasia, deeply offended by the defeat, decided to take revenge on the mermaid in the most cruel way. On the day Aristula and Melisso went to the rocks, the fury of Leucasia, composed of raging winds and gigantic waves, blew from the sky and swept the couple into the sea. Melisso and Aristula died as a result of the fury of Leucasia, which led to the bodies of the young victims being separated by a wide gulf. The goddess Minerva witnessed the heinous crime of Leucasia with intense pity and turned them into stone to make them immortal.
