The town was nominated capital of Albania only in 1920, and, before that year, it was nothing more than a large hamlet. From 1944 to 1990, Tirana (and the rest of Albania) suffered a period of isolation during the Communist regime. Still today, traces of this historical period can be found in different areas of Tirana.
We will also use cable car to enjoy the view of the whole city from an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level on Dajti Mountain.

Skanderbeg Square has been transformed during the last year, retaining the old while incorporating a new, modern atmosphere. A car-free zone, this square is a pleasure to walk around in and browse all these different places.

Bunk'art 2 reconstructs the history of the Albanian Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1912 to 1991 and reveals the secrets of “Sigurimi”, the political police that was the harsh persecution weapon used by the regime of Enver Hoxha. Bunk'art 2 is the first major video museum exhibition dedicated to the victims of communist terror.
