In the mid-20th century, Christian Restorff began construction on a new hotel in Tórshavn. Opened in 1951 and named Hafnia, the hotel underwent significant expansion in the following decades, becoming the largest in the Faroe Islands. In 1988, Christian's sons, Johan and Martin, took over, with Johan as director.
