The Tatev Monastery is a 9th-century Armenian Apostolic monastery located on a large basalt plateau near the Tatev village in Syunik Province in southeastern Armenia. The term "Tatev" usually refers to the monastery. The monastic ensemble stands on the edge of a deep gorge of the Vorotan River. Tatev is known as the bishopric seat of Syunik and played a significant role in the history of the region as a center of economic, political, spiritual and cultural activity.
One of the most adorable places of Armenia is Khndzoresk, which is located in the province of Syunik. The beauty of Khndzoresk impresses everyone and makes them visit and enjoy one of the best views of the world over and over again.
We turn you attention to one of the treasuresof Armenia – Carahunge, which is also well-known as "Zorats-Karer". The name Carahunge is interpreted as deriving from two Armenian words: car/ kar and hunge/hoonch which in Armenian means stone and sound. Thus the name Carahunge means "speaking stones". This interpretation is related to the fact that the stones make whistling sounds on a windy day, presumably because of multiple reach-through holes bored into the stones at different angles in prehistoric times.
