This millennium tour will allow you to discover (or rediscover) the history of the city of 100 bell towers over a long time, without focusing solely on a particular period.I plan the visit over a full day, to respect everyone’s rhythm and fully enjoy the discovery. History is at every corner, it is up to us to recognize it together!
Once the group is complete, we will take a time to take stock in 1025. This year, Caen celebrates its millennium.. But what does 1025 mean? What did Caen look like in 1025? During the 11th century, an essential figure in the history of France and England chose Caen as its capital. He is the founder of the abbey we are going to visit. We will also take a time to mention the "sister" building, the Abbey of the Ladies.
After discovering the old town and its timber-framed buildings, we will head to a church whose non-verticality may surprise a little... We will talk about the very special history that the city has with water, and this to this day.
Returning to the old town centre, we will make a stop in front of the Hotel d'Escoville, emblematic monument of the Renaissance, and which adjoins the current Tourist Office (possible stop for souvenir purchases)
You will make your own way to the meeting points
