Ital is Vital, so says the Rasta. Rastafari is a spiritual and social movement born in the Caribbean Islands. Rastafarians highly revere their connection with mother nature and believe in receiving vitality by eating healthy fresh food straight from the earth. Ital is organic, vegan, and gluten free, cooked traditionally in a clay "yabba" pot over an open fire. Fresh, local, ingredients such as breadfruit, green fig, sweet potatoes, tanyo, dasheen, beans, and lentils are slow cooked with fresh herbs and coconut milk made from scratch. Ital is served in a calabash (tropical guord) bowl with a coconut spoon. Enjoy this unique, simple, Caribbean food while enjoying roots reggae music, and the relaxed, rustic surroundings of Ras Derrick's lush beach garden. Enjoy the authentic cultural experience of eating clean and simple on the beach while getting to know the locals. With advance reservation groups can can opt for an additional tasting of local bush (herbal) tea and medicinal plant juices, and can also request a sunset Yoga/Meditation session.
