The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument

This is an intersection of Old Saigon where the Honnored Buddhist Monk Thich Quang Duc burnt himself to protest the south Vietnam president Ngo Dinh Diem. Right now a huge and beloved statue of the monk is located with respectful urn for people’s worshipping. Through our guide’s explanation, you will understand more deeply about the conflicts between Buddhism and Catholic in 1960s, and a bit about the TODAY’s religious life of the Vietnamese.

The Independence Palace

This is considered as the WHITE HOUSE OF THE US. This is the living and working place of only 4 republic presidents of south Vietnam. You will be learning a bit about the period of civil war between north and south Vietnam related to the palace. Especially the stories of the 2 tanks from north Vietnam hitting the main gate of the Palace on April 30th 1975, making south Vietnam surrender. Besides, you will get to understand how north and south Vietnamese' attitudes about political issues today related to the palace.

Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral

We will stop here with our scooter. Our guide will deeply explain about this great architecture along with the CENTRAL POST OFFICE next door. These two master pieces have always been the unique symbolic images of old Saigon - not Hochiminh city. The feeling of getting lost in the heart of Saigon will bring you back to the old days when Saigon was the PEARL OF THE FAR EAST and the MOST WEALTHY city of Southeast Asia. Also our guide will show you a modest old building on top of which the LAST HELICOPTER evacuated the Saigonese and American citizens out of Saigon before the city was attacked by North Vietnam communist soldiers.
