Our mission is to take you to the heart of Bali and support the local village of Belulang. The villagers, their traditions, and their culture are integrated into the activities of the day. They bring you closer to Balinese village life with heart & passion. Our unique Balikaru garden is home to more than 40 different plants; in addition to fruits and vegetables, you will also discover herbs and spices. Your guide will share his extensive knowledge with you and explain exactly what they are used for in traditional Balinese cuisine or medicine. And best of all, you can decide for yourself in which language you would like to experience the day in the village - that way you won't miss out on anything, and you'll get all the information firsthand.
As a memory, you will receive all the traditional recipes from the Bali cooking class in detail to cook at home. To save resources, we will send them to you by e-mail after the tour, together with your personal cookery course certificate.
English-speaking guide: The English-speaking guide will accompany the entire group.
Travel on your own to the mountain village of Belulang. A warm welcome from the team in Balikaru, including a refreshing drink. Your day in a village will start with an introduction to traditional Balinese music; the team will show you how to play the Rindik, the Balinese instrument. Attended by the guide, you enjoy a tour through the organic Balikaru herb & spice garden with more than 40 different plants. Learn all about the benefits of spices and herbs not only in theory. You start at the Jamu Pavilion with crafting a healthy Jamu drink. Based on the family recipe, you'll prepare 2 Jamu drinks and follow this more than 1000-year-old tradition, originally from Java. Try for yourself the delicious taste of the powerful drink. Move to Paon Bali, the open-air Bali kitchen, and learn to cook authentic Balinese meals with guidance from our chef. Together you'll prepare a perfect lunch - enjoy it at our Balinese Warung. Relax in the quiet atmosphere of the idyllic mountain village. Hopefully you have enough power now to give our farmer next door a helping hand to plant rice together. It's time to say good-bye. Take a memory photo with our team before you leave on your own.
