Question: Where will I be picked up from for my Private Santorini Tour with Santorini Day Tours IKE? -If you will be tendered to the Athinios Port of Santorini, we will pick you up directly from the Athinios port (the Athinios port has road access). - If you will be tendered to the Fira Town Port of Santorini > we will pick you up from the Santorini McDonald's near the top of the cable car (you must use the cable car, the port is inaccessible by car) Please request from your cruise ship reception to tender you, if possible, from the Athinios Ferry Port. Whether you will be tendered to the Fira Town Port or the Athinios Port is beyond our control; you must inquire and liaise directly with the cruise ship's reception. Thank you for understanding. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION FROM CRUISE PASSENGERS: I am Concerned about the Cable Car Lines if I am finally tendered to the Fira Town Port: From this year(2025) and onward Santorini Port Authorities have settled a maximum number of passengers waiting in line for the cable car (only up to 300-400 passengers can be at the same time in line max) the rest of cruise ship passengers remain on the ship and not being tendered to the port until the cable car lines are clear or very low. Things have improved dramatically since 2025; it should no longer be your primary concern. Please note that the reviews you read online refer to situations from 2024 and older. As mentioned, from 2025, the cable car will operate much faster in terms of waiting times. Please note as well that the cable car ride is only 3minutes - thus it remains the fastest way to get from your cruise ship in town (Fira Town, Santorini’s Capital Town) where your Private Tour starts from, faster than getting/purchasing additional water taxis. VERDICT: Best Santorini Port to be Tendered as a Cruise Ship Passenger Faster and Best Overall Port Choice if you are a cruise passenger who has booked a Private Santorini Tour with Santorini Day Tours is the ATHINIOS PORT.
