The Blowing Stone is a perforated sarsen stone, located in Kingston Lisle, Oxfordshire. Legend has it that King Alfred used the stone to summon his troops before the Battle of Ashdown in 871 AD. When blown into, the stone emits a loud, trumpet-like sound that can be heard for miles
The White Horse may have served as a territorial marker or fertility symbol. The site's strategic position along the Ridgeway, Britain's oldest road, suggests it was a significant ceremonial location. The alignment with the winter solstice hints at its use in ancient rituals.
The barrow's alignment with the sunrise on certain days suggests it was used for rituals marking the passage of time and the seasons. We also visit the secret spring nearby.
