Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in a local home kitchen with your host Paula. This is a wonderful experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Your cooking class will take place in a local home kitchen where Paula will teach you 2-3 traditional Portuguese-influenced Goan dishes from her family recipes. After cooking, you will enjoy your meal together in Paula's home.
Please note, for parties larger than two guests, you will start your experience in Paula’s home with a welcome drink and snacks, and then walk across the street to Paula’s cooking studio (located just across the street from Paula's apartment) to cook and eat there.
• Cooking lesson in a local home • Introduction to Portuguese and Portuguese-influenced Goan dishes • 100% private activity • Portuguese hospitality in a residential Almada neighborhood (short 7-minute ferry ride from downtown Lisbon) • Vegetarian options available
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional Portuguese culture and cuisine. Your experience will take place in Almada, just a short 7-minute ferry ride from downtown Lisbon. Paula will meet you at the ferry stop in Cacilhas and take you on a lovely 10-minute walk through the center of town to her apartment. Start your meal with a welcome drink of some Portuguese wine and appetizers. Then, in Paula's home kitchen you will learn to make 2-3 Portuguese and Portuguese-Goan dishes. You will learn to make two appetizers side-by-side such as pataniscas de bacalhau, traditional Portuguese cod fritters, and Goan bojas, gram flour fritters made with onion and cumin seeds. Then go on to make a main dish, where you can select between a Portuguese or Goan main dish, such as bacalhau a braz, a traditional Portuguese dish of cod with shredded potatoes and egg, or a Goan curry. After cooking, sit down together at Paula’s dining table or in her cooking studio table across the street. End your meal with a sweet dessert and coffee or tea. Please note that Paula has a cat and shares her home with a family so it can be a bit cluttered.
