Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes. She is going to be visible to us for the first few hours of our day. In the middle ages, Hekla got the nickname " The gateway to Hell"
Bláhylur / Hnausapollur is a crater lake formed in a immense eruption in 871, just before the settlement of Iceland. Bláhylur got it's name from the deep blue color of it's water. The striking contrast of the blue water against darker browns, greens and grey's, forms a landscape of incredible beauty.
