Famous for its giant tortoises, which have been residing there since 1919 after being brought from Aldabra Seychelles, the island is also a great spot for snorkeling and sunbathing. Once a quarantine station, it later became the site for a prison built by the British in the 1890s, though the prison was never used.
The Stone Town is known for a historical walk through this UNESCO World Heritage site.
