The extensive campus Clementinum (Klementinum) is one of the largest building complexes in Europe and was originally built as a Jesuit college. As part of the sightseeing route, it is possible to look into the hall of the Baroque Library, which is often described as the most beautiful in the world. It was completed in 1727, and its still open collection includes over 27,000 volumes of mostly foreign-language theological literature. The next stop on the route is the Meridian Hall, where there are original astronomical instruments used to determine noon. The tour ends with the Astronomical Tower, which with its height of 68 meters guarantees an unforgettable view of the center of Prague and Prague Castle. New Mill Water Tower (Novomlýnská vodárenská věž) was built in the Baroque style in 1658 on what remained of the original Renaissance tower, destroyed by a flood in 1655. It supplied water to the lower New Town of Prague and served its original purpose until 1877. The Tower has undergone a complete renovation, and now houses an exhibition about Prague's fires in the past and a history of Prague's fire-fighters. Powder Gate Tower (Prašná brána) is the monumental entrance by which the coronation processions of Czech kings entered the Old Town is one of the most significant monuments of Late Gothic Prague. Completed in 1475, the Powder Gate Tower, which formerly served as a gunpowder store, is still the starting point for the Coronation or Royal Route to Prague Castle.   • You will recognize the tram by its historical design and number 42. The tram is leaving from the meeting point Náměstí Republiky (tram stop) at 10:18, 10:58, 11:38, 12:18, 12:58, 13:38, 14:18, 14:58, 15:38, 16:18, 16:58 and 17:38.

End Points

  • The first and the last stop is Dlabačov or you can terminate the tour at any stop. After each circuit, there is a 30-minute break at Dlabačov stop.
