University Church of St. Mary the Virgin
Pass-by Only

This Anglican church is well-known for its elegant spire, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in England. Gargoyles and statues surround the spire, and parts of the church's stained glass windows are from the Renaissance era. Founded over 500 years ago, the church was the site of the heresy trials for the Oxford Martyrs in 1555. Visitors to the church can find Cranmer's Pillar, which commemorates the martyrs of the Reformation period.

Officially known as the College of the Souls of All the Faithful Departed, this college was founded by King Henry VI in 1483. Did you know there are no undergraduates today?
