A unique opportunity to explore the Panamanian Rainforest in a boat trip navigating in the Panama Canal observing the big vessels that cross the country. In this lake you will experience a direct contact with nature and the fascinating jungle wildlife. After the visit to the lake we will visit the Sloth Sanctuary where you will learn about the conservation effort to protect the species. Later we will visit the butterfly garden where you can observe and learn more about the Blue Morpho, the most iconic butterfly in Panama.
Pickup included
After picking you up at your hotel we go to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort in the Soberania National Park located 1 hour from Panama City We will board a boat and sail on Gatun Lake next to the huge ships that cross the Panama Canal. We will admire the fauna and vegetation of the tropical forest, including different species of monkeys, crocodiles and caimans, falcons, toucans, etc., in their natural habitat.
We will go back from the boat ride and then visit visit the Sloth Sanctuary that is located just 15 minutes from Gatun Lake dock. In this place we will watch three-toed and two-toed sloths that have been rescued. We will learn about life and habits of the sloths and the efforts for the conservation of the species through the volunteers and specialized guides. Later we will visit the Butterfly House where we will observe the butterflies that live in the rainforest such as the colorful Blue Morpho Butterfly. We will also visit the orchid and frog exhibitions of species that live in the park.
