Our lunch with the locals tour is the ultimate Singapore food tour. We take in not one but two different areas that every visitor must see when they come to Singapore. Starting off at our famous Tekka market in Little India you'll get to see first hand where our chefs shop. You'll learn about our spices and herbs and watch the locals buying their daily ingredients. You can;t visit Tekka without eating and we will take you to our favourite spots to sample some amazing local flavours. Exploring the back streets of Little India uncovers some great hidden gems and beautiful street art. A short hop away is Kampong Glam which is the second part of our tour. We'll visit small local eateries and try Indonesian and Malay inspired dishes. Say hi to the chefs, get that instagram picture and devour our favourite eats in the colourful streets of the Glam. This is a perfect tour for experiencing the real food of Singapore.
At the heart of Little India, the Tekka centre is a hive of food and activity. Your guide will introduce you to one of Singapore's best wet markets. You'll explore the narrow aisles past local vendors selling every herb and spice you can imagine. See where our hawkers get their produce and learn how Singapore imports different types of food. The Tekka centre also houses a fantastic hawker centre. We will spend time eating dishes from some of our favourite hawkers here. It is a great spot to learn about local life and to immerse yourself fully. Sitting down and eating with the locals is a real experience and one you won't forget.
Little India is a fascinating area to explore. Your guide will show you the hidden spots in this bustling neighbourhood. We will visit local food vendors and learn about their lives and their dishes. We'll try specialities like fresh briyani, fragrant dosa and mouth watering sweets. Little India is one of the oldest areas of Singapore. It is the epi-centre of Singapore's Indian community and as such is a must visit for every food lover. As well as great food the area is awash with the colours of fresh flower garlands that are sold on the streets. A multitude of shrines and temples appear on our route through the back streets. We'll see small family run shops and learn about the area's history and it's importance to Singapore today. Bathed in stunning street art and full of smiling residents, this is one of our favourite places to visit in Singapore.
Arab street is famous in Singapore for it's carpet and lamp shops. Located in Kampong Glam the street is teaming with small shops and businesses that have been here for generations. It is also a great place to eat. The closeness to the Sultan mosque means that there are many Malay and Indonesian inspired food places for us to enjoy. The whole area was given to the Sultan of Johor in the 19th century. We can visit the old palace which is now a Malay heritage centre. We will also visit the Sultan mosque with its huge golden dome. This is one of the most famous mosques in Singapore and is always full of life. The small pedestrianised streets off Arab street provide us with a chance to show you our favourite hidden gems. This area has a retained a lot of old school charm. The small shophouses that once housed Chinese labourers are now home to small boutiques and cafes. It's a great place to explore and eat.
