Following two sisters whose lives are upended when their father relocates the family to the idyllic countryside, this production packs in an emotional and magical experience. During an exploration of her enchanting new surroundings, Mei is exposed to a wonderous world where she encounters Totoro – the friendly guardian of the ancient forest. While her older sister Satsuki is sceptical of Mei’s claims, she quickly finds herself strapped along for the ride. As they embark on a thrilling adventure together, their mystical landscape offers new friends at every turn, in the shape of spirits, sprites, and other wonderful creatures. With its ability to resurrect the magic and wonder of childlike imagination through a spectacular production, this show offers an enjoyable experience for all audiences and is suitable for ages 4 and up. Enjoy this performance at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, a modern, yet historical location built on the site of previous venues and music hall theatres.

  • AGE RECOMMENDATION: 6+ Younger guests are welcome although the production is not suitable for under 4 years old (including babes in arms). younger children and babes in arms are welcome at our relaxed performances. Children need to occupy their own seat at all times through the performance. All persons aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and may not sit on their own within the auditorium. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.
  • The show features puppets, some large scale that will interact in audience space. The show contains themes of an ill parent in hospital. It also features live music and sound effects that will be loud at times and possibly scary for some younger children at moments.
