A special half-day tour to discover the central part of Lake Como: sailing and walking! After a pleasant private cruise during which you will circumnavigate the Bellagio peninsula to discover some lakeside villages, you will enjoy an easy mini-trekking to the thousand-year-old Vezio Castle in Varenna. Thanks to an easy 30-minute walk on a cobblestone path, you will reach Castello di Vezio, perched on a scenic promontory. From the ancient military outpost, you will climb to the top of the tower, walk along defensive walls and basements, in a natural setting with evocative ghost-like statues. Return to Tremezzo or Bellagio by private taxi-boat.
At the center of Lake Como, on the promontory overlooking Varenna, stands the Castello di Vezio, an ancient military outpost of early medieval origin erected to defend and control the lake and surrounding villages by the Lombard queen Teodolinda, for more than a thousand years. Partially restored in the mid-20th century, today the castle has a square-based watchtower, accessible by a small drawbridge and visitable up to the top, surrounded by a first quadrangular wall with a partial corner turret. Surrounded by the greenery of one of the northernmost olive groves in the world.
