The Gion entertainment district in front of Yasaka Shrine and the cobblestone streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka that lead to the world heritage site Kiyomizu Temple have been designated as protected areas to preserve traditional-style buildings.

Itinerary

Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine

After meeting up with your guide. Board the train to Inari Station and visit the Fushimi Inari Shrines through the world famous Senbon Torii ("thousands of torii gates)

Nishiki Market Shopping District

Sample some of the local delicacies with your tour guide and learn about the history and traditions of the nicknamed "Kyoto's Kitchen" shopping street. Followed by some time for lunch (not included in the tour price)

Kennin-ji Temple

Founded in 1202 AD, Kenninji claims to be Kyoto's oldest Zen temple. Zen Master Eisai, who is said to have brought Zen to Japan, served as the founding chief priest of Kennin-ji Temple and is buried within the temple grounds.
