Jungle Kitchen cooking classes take you back to times where food was prepared and cooked using handmade tools and old-style techniques.

Although just minutes from Fishermans Village, the school setting is a world away from the busy streets around the coast.

Guests cook at our 8 metre long cooking station with the sounds of nature and panoramic views of Koh Phangan. The ethos of the class is to keep alive knowledge of traditional cooking methods and to use the same tools and techniques which were widely used in a Thai kitchen over 50 years and more ago.

Class finishes with dinner in the gardens where the atmosphere is often like a dinner party.

We cook normally - a soup or Thai salad - a Thai curry made from scratch - a noodle or a stir-fry dish And the Jungle Kitchen will prepare an additional dish We start class with a briefing and a welcome drink followed by a tour of the beautiful organic gardens to see the wide variety of plants and harvest some ingredients. We prepare the dishes on our 8 metre long handmade table. Chopping herbs and grinding pastes by hand as mouthwatering aromas start to drift around the kitchen. Then after a break we start cooking over charcoal followed by dinner in the gardens, before returning home. Recipes will be shared soon after. Cooking is carried out using only traditional tools and techniques; Guests will learn to cook three dishes before eating their own creations in the gardens with panoramic views over Koh Phangan and occasional trumpeting from the next door elephant sanctuary.
