Ngutuni is a unique 10,000 acre private game sanctuary located next to Tsavo East, it is easily accessible making it a perfect getaway spot from the southern part of the Kenyan coast. Game viewing in this sanctuary is perfectly superb with great concentration of Elephants, Lion prides, Buffalo, Rhino, Gazelles and a wide variety of antelopes that regularly visit the lodge's strategically dug waterhole. Other unique wildlife found here are the Greater and lesser Kudu, Oryx, Gerenuk and the rare wild dog. The area is famous for the "man eaters of Tsavo" Lions immortalized for attacking workers during the building of the Kenya-Uganda railway line at the turn of the century. Also present is a marvelous diversity of endemic and migratory bird species. Day1. Mombasa to Ngutuni Wildlife Sanctuary. You are picked from your coastal beach resort early in the morning for a 3- hour drive to Ngutuni. The drive passes through beautiful and remote rural villages. Upon arrival access the park and immediately embark on a game drive searching for a variety of wildlife roaming freely in this vast reserve. Spot the "red elephants" appearing as so due to their constant mud bathing in the red earth of the Tsavo ecosystem. See Buffalos, Eland, Giraffes, Zebras and Gazelles. Arrive at the Ngutuni lodge in good time for lunch and check in. More animals can be spotted by the lodge strategic dug waterhole as they visit for a midday drink. Commence for an afternoon game drive at 4pm, exploring the sanctuary further anticipating to discover the "man eater" lions of Tsavo, look out for other predators including cheetahs, Jackals, Hyenas and the elusive wild dog. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2. Ngutuni Conservancy and Return to Mombasa. Wake up to the sounds of nature and a beautiful sunrise, it's another day in the wilderness. Start with an early morning game drive and capture a golden sunrise. A good time to observe the early activities of predators. Enjoy 2-hours of a comprehensive game drive before returning to the lodge for proper breakfast. At 10:00am, embark on an en route game drive enjoying more wildlife sightings and taking an option to visit a traditional Masai village for an elaborate cultural interaction. Your lunch is scheduled on the way before finally returning back to Mombasa after 2 days of a thrilling adventure.
