The Iconic Koutoubiya mosque was built in the 12th century during the reign of the Almohad empire.Its name means "Librarians" as the area nearby was once a hub for booksellers and schollars.It is still an active place for worship;visitors can just admire its stunning exterior.The mosque and its tower showcases classical Almohad architecture known for its simplicity and symmetry.It served as a modal for its twin mosques in the current capital of Morocco Rabat and also la Giralda in Seville as they were both built by the Almohad empire in the 12th century.
The secret garden is located in the heart of the old city(Medina)It was a section of an old palace datin back to the 16th century(Saadian dynasty)It was eeconstructed in the 19th C.It's a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby quarters.The garden was restored rcently in 2016.Divided into an exotic part featuring plants from all over the world and an Islamic section inspired by the ancient principles of paradise gardens. The secrecy of this place is that it still highlights the ancient water management systems dating back to late 11th century.
