Hampton Court Palace is a story of two palaces: a Tudor palace magnificently developed by Cardinal Wolsey and later Henry VIII, alongside a Baroque palace built by William III and Mary II. Tudor Palace and Henry VIII Henry VIII had more than 60 houses, but, none were more important to him, nor more sumptuously decorated, than Hampton Court Palace. Today you can visit Henry’s Apartments, see his stunningly recreated Imperial Crown in the Royal Pew before sneaking below stairs to visit his vast Tudor Kitchens where 200 cooks, sergeants, grooms and pages worked to produce over 800 meals a day for the hungry household. Baroque Palace and William & Mary The splendid apartments of William and Mary who ruled jointly at the end of the 17th century are a beautiful and elegant reminder of the decadent Baroque period. They offer tremendous views of the magnificent gardens. The Magic Garden There is much more to see such as the Georgian Apartments, the Triumphs of Caesar

Hampton Court Palace was built by Cardinal Wolsey. There will be time to visit the lovely gardens, maze and State rooms. One must see attractions inside Hampton Court Palace is the Great Hall located in the center of Tudor Palace. The work on Henry VIII's Great Hall began in 1532 as it replaced a smaller hall built between 1492 - 1514. This hall was used for daily dining and entertainment purposes. 500 years of garden history These gardens, now visited by thousands of people every year, were once the exclusive playground of kings and queens. New ideas and designs arrived with each new era, from the Tudors through to the Victorians. Today the Gardens and Estate team continue the work of past royal gardeners. From Charles II’s elegant Long Water, to William III & Mary II’s fine baroque gardens, including the Maze, to dazzling displays of Victorian mass bedding, Hampton Court Gardens have always been at the cutting edge of design.
