Keldur

A guided tour inside Keldur one of the largest preserved turf farms in south Iceland. The wooden frame of the hut is characteristic of Roman style. From the hut there is an underground tunnel thought to date from the 12th or 13th century. These structures of turf houses blend seamlessly into the natural landscape.

  • You'll have to get there by car. On road 1, between the towns Hella and Hvolsvöllur, you'll take road 264 (north of road 1). After a few minutes drive you will see the Keldur sign.
