Gramvousa and Balos from Heraklion
An amazing day in paradise and a great adventure for all the family! This excursion leads you to the western point of the island. West of Kissamos and north of the beautiful village of Kaliviani, stretches the impressive Gramvousa Peninsula. Starting from the port of Kissamos, followed by a pleasant voyage, we will reach Gramvousa where the ancient shipyard Tarsanas will catch your attention, as well as the geological phenomenon of land elevation by 6 to 9 metres above the sea level. Here you will have the opportunity to either enjoy the beach with crystal clear water and the amazing view of never ending sea lagoon; or climb on the top of the steep rock to see the Venetian castle. Afterwards we take a 2nd short boat trip to the fabulous lagoon of Balos, shallow and warm water lagoon and one of Crete's loveliest spots. Here you can enjoy plenty of swimming in the inviting crystal clear waters of western Crete and sunbathing at the white sandy beach.

Gramvousa Beach
Gramvousa is famous for its historical Venetian fortress, which still stands at a height of 137m, over the beach. The fort had also been used by pirates; one legend tells that there is a great treasure buried in the island. Also, the old wreck that was abandoned many years ago near the beach, has become an characteristic part of the landscape.
Balos Lagoon
The lagoon of Balos has white sand and exotic white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. The sea is very shallow and warm, ideal for young children. In many places the sand has a lovely pinkish color, because of millions of crushed shells. Beyond the rocks at the boundaries of the lagoon, the water is deeper and colder, ideal for a snorkeling. The lagoon and the wider area, with rare species of flora and fauna, are protected under the Natura 2000 program.
